An Elephant Encounter in Botswana's Chobe National Park

On a drive from Namibia to Zimbabwe near the northern edge of Botswana's Chobe National Park, WWF staff encountered a group of elephants crossing the road. They stopped the car to watch them go by. As the group was crossing, one elephant took special notice of the vehicle.

(Once the camera turned off, the approaching elephant flapped her trunk one or two more times, then turned back to her group and led them off the road. Despite a frantic starting of the engine, the WWF staff idled in place as the elephants made their way off through the trees.)
