CARMEN BUSQUETS is a philanthropist, entrepreneur, strategic investor, and zero-waste fashion advocate whose career in the luxury industry spans over three decades. In addition to fashion and technology, she is passionate about mind and body discipline and empowering small artisans and business owners around the world. Busquets began her career at 23 years old with her own luxury fashion boutique, Cabus, in Venezuela, the first of its kind to be opened in Latin America. Following a number of wellness ventures in the early 90s, including one she co-founded with Deepak Chopra and her family, Busquets made history in the e-commerce fashion space when she became the cofounding investor and largest individual private shareholder of Net-a-Porter. Busquets started to focus on sustainable luxury with CoutureLab, a vehicle for disruptive ideas. The CoutureLab concept store supported and showcased a global network of entrepreneurs, artists, and artisans working across fashion, lifestyle, and different cultures. Busquets has been involved in a great number of luxury fashion and lifestyle success stories, including Farfetch, Cult Beauty, Lyst, and the Business of Fashion. She has supported and been a seed investor in a range of funds such as Imaginary Ventures, Susa Ventures, and Felix Capital. Busquets also cofounded disruptive technology companies such as Tagwalk, PSYKHE, and The Floorr together with women she respects intellectually and creatively. As an advocate of zero waste, Busquets devotes her time and efforts to create awareness, foster aid, and educate on the importance of the conservation of our planet. She is involved with innovative brands such as House of Fluff—which has created the most sustainable and earth-friendly animal-free fur—and the ethical fashion retailer Maison de Mode. Supporting women and artisan communities, Busquets serves on Nest’s board of trustees and has taken on the role of Nest’s international brand and fashion deputy to spearhead initiatives that promote equal opportunities in the handmade economy, while preserving centuries-old craftsmanship techniques across the globe. In 2018, Busquets joined the board of directors of the non-profit organization Glasswing International and helped fund the launch of its New York City-based program for migrant youth.
